OHSWEKEN, ON –October 30, 2019 – The Six Nations of the Grand River Economic Development Trust (EDT) has announced their shortlist list for 2020 community investment. The shortlisting process consists of applications that are deemed complete, are within the scope of the 2020 EDT guidelines, and warrant further evaluation by Economic Development Trustees. After this initial screening process by the EDT, 9 General applications and 4 Grassroots have been shortlisted.

The shortlist presentations will take place on Saturday, November 9th, 2019 from 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Six Nations Tourism Building. Community members are invited to attend and observe these presentations to learn more about the shortlisted proposals. “Shortlist presentations are an important step in the scoring process that
gives the Trustees a clear, more wholesome picture of proposed project while allowing for two-way conversation with the applicant and trustees,” said Rachel Martin, Board of Trustees Chair for the EDT.

The EDT has just over $1.4 million dollars available for community investment in 2020. This year a total of 19 applications were submitted, with a total ask of $3,875,823.84. From these applications, 12 were deemed complete and will move onto the shortlist presentation phase. Following review and scoring, successful recipients will be notified by November 22, 2019. Approved recipients will then have from January 1 to December 1, 2020 to utilize the funds.

Since 2016, the Economic Development Trust has invested over $10.8 million into the collective betterment of the Six Nations People, this is made possible through annual distributions of surplus profits by the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC).
