SIX NATIONS, ON –November 2, 2020– The Six Nations of the Grand River Economic Development Trust (EDT) is excited to announce their second call for their new funding application known as the EDT Emergency Relief Fund.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Six Nations EDT created an application for on-reserve non-profit organizations that serve the Six Nations community. The Emergency Relief Fund was developed to support the safety and wellbeing of grassroot organizations in the community by providing financial support for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The first call was released in September 2020 and granted a total of $4,500 to 5 non-profit community organizations.

Eligible non-profit organizations can apply to receive a maximum grant of $1000 to provide assistance in reducing the costs of PPE such as face coverings, hand sanitizer, rubber gloves, plexiglass, alcohol spray, cleaning supplies, etc.

“The trust is very passionate about our local non-profit organizations and have implemented an emergency relief grant for those local organizations who may not receive emergency funding.”, said Alaina VanEvery, Board of Trustee Chair.  “This funding is aimed at assisting local organizations in meeting the Six Nations Health and Safety Guidelines as well as doing our part to best serve the community during these uncertain times.”

To be considered eligible for EDT Emergency Relief Funding, Non-Profit Community Organizations must meet the following requirements:

  • Must provide a service to Six Nations of the Grand River band members and be located on Six Nations territory
  • Priority will be given to non-profits who do not receive annual funding from any government sources
  • Priority will be given to non-profits that are unable to access other emergency support programs funded by any government sources
  • Non-profit must have been established prior to January 2020
  • Non-profit must have an established board that include Six Nations band members

Non-profit organizations who received funding in the first call, will not be eligible to apply in this second call. Applications will be available on the Economic Development Trust website at as of Monday November 2, 2020. Applications can also be picked up/dropped off at the Six Nations Tourism Building (2498 Chiefswood Road, Ohsweken ON) between 9am and 3pm on weekdays. Applications are due November 20, 2020 at 3:00PM.
